"The program has forced me to look at things from a different perspective. I've delved into topics I was not entirely comfortable with and have learned from a wide variety of other IT professionals. I'm more aware of trends and events occurring throughout the industry and can bring these back to my organization."

In his role as an account analyst, Kevin Chaloupecky relies on a blend of management and technology skills, a combination highly sought by companies. When seeking a graduate program, Kevin elected to return to SMSU where he had previously earned his undergraduate CIS degree. In his words, he was motivated by the "opportunities that it (MS CIS) could create." Based on his previous experience with the CIS Department, Kevin entered the MSCIS program with very high expectations.

The quality of the curriculum and convenience of the delivery format is evidenced by the number of new student referrals from our students and alumni. Referrals from current MS CIS students or alumni have accounted for as high as 50 percent of recent cohorts!

Reflecting the dynamic nature of IT management, the MS CIS curriculum is constantly revised and enhanced to stay current. MS CIS students evaluate both on-campus and distance learning sessions and offer suggestions for improvement. Surveys of MS CIS alumni and other IT professionals are also used to refine current courses and develop new offerings.
