Like most MS CIS students, Rick Wilkerson's primary motivation for pursuing a graduate degree centered on career advancement. Just as he completed his program of study, he accepted a new position.
Since IT professionals assisted in developing the MS CIS curriculum, we were pleased, but not surprised, when students in the first cohort (1997) commented on the immediate application and value of our course work. This tradition has continued, with both students and alumni crediting the MS CIS program for improved performance and expanded career opportunities. According to our students and graduates the curriculum meets the needs of both experienced IT managers and technical staff making the transition to managerial roles. MS CIS graduates have obtained or been promoted to a wide range of positions, including: Project Manager, IT Director, Senior Vice President and CIO.
