"The MSCIS Program is truly high-tech, high-touch... combining cutting-edge distance learning strategies and personal on-site collaboration with leading faculty, industry experts and experienced professionals from around the world. This program provides the flexibility needed by working professionals with the practical insight, rigor and challenge required to excel in today's IT and business world. I’d go through the program again without hesitation."

With prior graduate degrees from two leading midSouth Universities Dr. Bart Dahmer came to the MS CIS Program with high expectations. The program met those expectations and Dr. Dahmer has since served as an adjunct faculty member. So far, two cohorts have benefited from Dr. Dahmer’s instruction in CIS650 IS Resource Acquisition.

The combination of limited on-campus residency, distance learning and an extended semester format overcome many of the barriers to graduate education.

Residency

Each semester begins with a one-week on-campus residency in which students complete 60 hours of course work. These on-campus sessions allow students to immerse themselves in course work, meet face-to-face with their instructors, and network with other IT professionals during meals, refreshment breaks and social outings. Following the on-campus residency, students have a one-week break to get caught up at both home and office.

Distance Learning Sessions

Individual courses are then completed during seven week distance learning sessions. The program utilizes an extended semester format (21 weeks) to reduce the weekly time commitment. The academic calendar includes two 5-week breaks (December/January and June/July). This unique delivery format and academic calendar has proven extremely popular with IT professionals seeking to balance their professional, personal and academic commitments.
